Its easy to get a one-sided view of a resort whose name has become a synonym for Apres’ Ski. In part, that’s because this reputation for revelry is well deserved, and the Apres here is just so damn enjoyable. Feel like dancing on tables in bars half way up the mountain in full ski or snowboard garb? Yep. How about consuming extraordinary amounts of jagermeister and beer before skiing/snowboarding/sliding/falling back down to the village in the moonlight? Of course you do…
But beyond this, come to St Anton for the same reason that people have been for the past 100 years. To ski its broad range of challenging, and accessible slopes. St Anton sees itself as ‘the cradle of Alpine skiing’, and the homage to its impressive Alpine credentials is strong with signs and monuments erected throughout this picturesque little town. Its buildings are charming in a way that only the European Alps can be - like walking through the pages of a Hans Christen Anderson story.
