The land of the rising sun is also the land of abundant snowfall. Japan receives some of the highest quantities of snowfall on earth. It falls in delicious great flakes, blanketing Japan's 700 odd ski resorts with a velvet carpet of snow sliding delight.

Sure its cold, the nightlife can be minimal in parts and the sun rarely peeks through the unrelenting snowfall. But the culture is extraordinarily seducing, the people are friendly, well dressed and hospitable, and there is nothing quite like soaking in a natural thermal onsen at the end of a day lost in the powder.

Hot foot it to Hokkaido or Honshu to get the best out of this wonderful country...
